When planning your day, choosing the right app to keep everything organized is crucial. But doing this isn’t easy; you need to think about much more than just the tools available. Having a daily planner app that works across multiple devices is a good idea. Moreover, you’ll want something that is user-friendly and doesn’t crash regularly.

Brite and Notion are two apps you should consider for planning your day. Both are stronger in different areas than the other—and to help you make a better decision, we’ll provide a comparison between the two today.

1. App Performance

First, let’s start this section by talking about where you can actually find Brite and Notion. Notion is available on Mac and Windows as downloadable apps from the Notion website. You can also get Notion on iOS and Android, along with using the tool in your web app.

Brite is similarly available on iOS and Android as an app. You can find Brite on the Mac App Store, but it’s not specifically optimized for these devices. Fortunately, Brite is available as a web app on desktop devices.

Notion’s apps function well, and you shouldn’t experience too many problems. The same goes for the web app.

Having tested Brite on mobile, things are a little different; the apps are often difficult to use. Not because of their layouts (more on that later), but because users often have to endure unresponsive apps.

The good news is that Brite works much better on your computer. You might have stability issues in the beginning, but things work quite well after that. So, if you use Brite to plan your week, we recommend doing so on the web app.

2. To-Do Lists

To-do lists are the most fundamental aspect of many people’s productivity systems, and you’ll find several innovative to-do apps. But while you can use standalone apps, keeping everything in one place is much better for not having to switch through apps and avoid multitasking.

Brite and Notion both let you create to-do lists. In Brite, you’ll see two separate options: One for work-related tasks and another for things you need to do elsewhere—such as taking out the trash.

You can customize these in several ways, such as prioritizing tasks and adding their difficulty levels. Moreover, you can set them up to recur if necessary. When creating tasks in Brite, you can access these on your dashboard and tick each one off as you complete it.

In Notion, you can create to-do lists by making a new page and typing / (slash) in the main typing section. You can then pick To-Do List from the dropdown menu and Type out your tasks. Like in Brite, you can tick these off as you complete them.

Notion also has several downloadable templates for creating to-do lists, such as weekly agendas.

3. Calendar Features

Arguably, the best way to stay organized each day is to plan what you do in advance. Having a calendar for this is a good idea; Notion and Brite differ in how you can use this tool.

In Brite, you have a calendar already included in the app. Here, you can add your tasks for each day and choose a selection of other things—such as adding notes.

Notion lets you create a new calendar by making a new page and selecting Calendar from the options on the start screen for your page. You can then choose New Database; a calendar will appear after you do that.

When you make a new calendar, you can begin entering the different tasks you need to finish. Besides seeing what’s happening this month, you can plan out the rest of your year by flicking through the months.

4. App Layout

Having a responsive app is one thing, but you also want an easy-to-navigate layout. Brite and Notion both score highly in that respect, but they look quite different. In Brite, you’ll see a left-hand toolbar for your notes, calendar, tasks, and more. If you select My day, you will find a complete overview of everything you need to complete.

Notion also has a toolbar on the left-hand side. Here, you’ll see all the pages you’ve made in your workspace. And if you’ve created multiple workspaces, you can also access these at the top of the toolbar.

On the right-hand side of Notion, you’ll see the page you’ve most recently opened. Within each page, you can create others—and you might find this especially useful for keeping everything organized. If you’re new to Notion, you can check out our complete beginner’s guide.

5. Creating Different Workspaces

We touched briefly upon workspaces in the previous section, and this is where Notion particularly excels in comparison to Brite. When using Notion, you can create up to 10 workspaces if you use the free app. With a paid subscription, you have the ability to make as many as you want.

Brite also lets you add different spaces. To do so, you can click on your profile picture and select Add space.

6. AI Integration

Artificial intelligence already has many uses, and that will likely only continue in years to come. Notion rolled out Notion AI to all of its users at the beginning of 2023, and you might find that it’s a particularly handy tool for planning your day. For example, you can create summaries of each page in your workspace.

If you use Notion AI, you can use up to 20 responses for free before April 5th, 2023. Notion has paid add-ons for the tool that both free and paid members can sign up for, and this will allow you to use Notion AI as much as you want. In terms of something like Notion AI, Brite doesn’t have anything of that nature for users at the time of writing.

7. Multilingual Capabilities

Sometimes, you might want to use your apps in a language that isn’t English; Brite and Notion differ in their capabilities for this. Notion is available in English, Korean, and Japanese; French and German versions are in Beta mode.

Brite has a wider selection of multilingual capabilities. You can use the app in 24 languages, including German, French, and Japanese.

Brite and Notion: Two Powerful Daily Planning Tools

Regardless of whether you use Brite or Notion, you’ll find it much easier to plan your day after picking one. Both differ in terms of their interfaces and features, and their app responsiveness is also not the same. Brite is still a relatively new app, though, so we think that its smartphone apps will improve over time.

Now that you’ve read this guide, you should find it easier to make a better decision when picking the two. You can also consider using both of them together; you can use Brite to plan your day and Notion for other things, such as setting long-term goals.
